Dear Visitor: The fact that you are visiting our web site means that you have either received one of our post cards or you’ve seen our ad in the San Luis Obispo Telegram-Tribune or you’ve seen our ad at www.Barnstormers.com. Consequently, you already know that we’re engaged in an advertising campaign intended to raise the funding and manpower necessary to carry forward and bring the Phoenix project to fruition. We have created this web site to tell you about the project, its background, where it is now and where it’s going. Our intention is to give you sufficient information so that you can decide, at least on a preliminary basis, whether you’d like to become involved in this exciting venture, either as an investor/partner or as a worker, or both. For those of you who ARE interested, we intend to hold face to face get-togethers with you in the very near future. Phoenix is a new generation, two seat, high performance General Aviation aircraft. Initially, we intend to sell the aircraft as a kit. However, we’ve kept in mind the fact that many potential customers are not so interested in building and very interested in flying. Consequently, the airplane has been designed so as to meet the requirements of FAR Part 23. We plan to go ahead with FAA certification if the flying public tells us that’s what they want. Let’s see how it goes and we’ll talk more about this down the road. As you know, the Phoenix bird is a creature that was born out of ancient Egyptian mythology. The bird, rising out of fire, represents re-birth. For that noble reason, the name has been used many times in the past, attaching itself to various projects, vehicles, airplanes and companies because it makes for good advertising. When we at Flight Sciences decided to name our aircraft Phoenix, we did it for a good reason. The aircraft that is being developed has been intended, from the philosophical beginning, to contribute to a “re-birth” of General Aviation, a raising of the bar, so to speak and so, what we’re doing truly DOES deserve the name. There’s only one way to “raise the bar”. You’ve got to strive for excellence. That’s the only way to get there and that’s why our logo says what it says. Now, “excellence” means different things to different people and it all depends on your point of reference. For example, an aircraft that flies 100 mph faster than its peers could be said to be “excellent”. An aircraft that provides a substantial increase in cabin room could be said to be “excellent”. In general, however, from our philosophical point of view, an aircraft can be said to be “excellent” if its over-all characteristics are viewed by the flying public as a significant step forward in the state of the art that produces a quantum increase in the Joy of Flight. That’s what Phoenix is all about and that’s where we’re going. We hope that you enjoy this web site. We hope that you find it interesting and, perhaps, educational. We intend to take you with us as we proceed down the road toward the first flight of the Phoenix prototype. Thanks for stopping by and please stop by again.
Sincerely yours, The Guys at Flight Sciences
